Do Air Purifiers Have To Be Loud?
If you are in the market for an air purifier, you may be
concerned about the noise they make. An air purifier has to run
continuously to function properly and cleanse the air, but some
people are concerned that they make too much noise. For people
with allergies, it is recommended that an air purifier be used
in the bedroom and a noisy air purifier won't lead to good
sleep.
Our family has used air purifiers in all the bedrooms of our
home for at least 10 years. Of course, we've exchanged air
purifiers several times due to motor burnouts or just the need
to replace the units. Some of the air purifiers we have used
have definitely been louder than others. It took a while to
become accustomed to the noise, but it has functioned as a type
of "white noise" that we all now associate with restful sleep.
It even helped my kids to sleep when they were babies because
the constant hum of the air purifier muted out the other sounds
in the house. Whenever we travel now, we have to bring an air
purifier along because we've found we can't sleep without the
air purifier "noise".
My favorite air purifier has been the Honeywell Enviracaire
Quietcare that is in the master bedroom. This unit has been
wonderful and really does not make a lot of noise. We've had
this particular air purifier for the past 5 years and have only
needed to replace the carbon filter and HEPA filter on it. It's
worked well and I can highly recommend it to anyone needing an
air purifier.
While I do not have personal experience with it, I have read
reviews which state that the Whirlpool Whispure models of air
purifiers are extremely quiet running. If you absolutely want a
bare minimum of noise, I would recommend checking out one of
these air purifiers. Likewise, with the Oreck air purifiers. In
conclusion, air purifiers do not have to be loud. You will
become accustomed to the constant hum they generate and the
sound they make really can mute out other noises. There are
numerous varieties to choose from. Visit a variety of stores and
see if you can get a demo of the unit running so you can discern
for yourself if it is too loud or not.
